Lake Zug, in the heart of Central Switzerland and at the foot of the Zugerberg, provides the ideal backdrop for relaxed motorboat training. Our location is in the centre of the town of Zug, right by the jetty of the boat hire company at Landsgemeindeplatz. From there, or from anywhere else on the lake, you will learn how to handle and operate a motorboat under the guidance of your instructor. He will prepare you specifically and efficiently for the cantonal examination. You too will pass with flying colours!
Our location is in the town of Zug at the jetty near the boat hire centre at Landsgemeindeplatz. However, we train from any location on Lake Zug and pick you up at your desired location, e.g. Zug harbour, Cham, Oberwil, Walchwil etc.
We recommend training in private lessons. However, training in groups of two is also possible on request. You can arrange the course times freely with your instructor. We train throughout the day, also in the evening, at weekends and during the winter. During the training, you will learn all the manoeuvres required for the test, such as parking, man overboard, etc. Your instructor will ensure that you receive sound, targeted and comprehensive training. Depending on your previous knowledge and learning progress, experience shows that the training takes between 15 and 25 hours until you are ready for the exam.
Our training boats are equipped with a sheltered cockpit and have heating. This ensures a pleasant training programme at all times, even in wet or cold weather.
The official examinations for the Swiss A licence ;are possible on Lake Zug from April to the end of October. You take these on your training boat. It is conducted by a cantonal examiner and takes about one hour. Before the exam, you complete a one-hour run-in so that you can go through the most important manoeuvres again and get used to the prevailing weather conditions.
You can prepare for the theoretical exam through self-study. You can use the documents recommended by the shipping authorities or learning software from various providers. We will be happy to help you prepare for the theory exam.
Although the motorboat examinations are held at cantonal level, it is possible for you to train on Lake Zug. Simply contact us for further information.
