Learn to sail Almost in the heart of Zurich

Our centre in Zurich-Enge on Mythenquai offers you the chance to get your sailing licence on the side, so to speak. Situated almost in the heart of the city, you can complete your sailing training before or after work – or in between. Of course, weekends are also available for your training, throughout the season from mid-March to mid-November.

Sailing courses to obtain the Swiss D licence from Zurich-Enge, Wollishofen, Tiefenbrunnen, etc.

Course locations

There are various starting locations to choose from for your sailing training on Lake Zurich: Zurich-Enge, Wollishofen, Tiefenbrunnen, etc. You will be taught by experienced instructors at all locations. Wherever possible, we make sure that you are accompanied by the same person throughout your training.

Training

We mainly teach in private lessons or in groups of two. If three people register at the same time, training is also possible in groups of three. You can choose between morning, afternoon or evening lessons of three hours each or weekends or a whole week from Monday to Friday. In private lessons, you can determine the times yourself. This means you can decide for yourself how quickly you want to make progress towards exam readiness. Your instructor will ensure that you receive efficient and targeted training that corresponds to your current level of training.

Training boat

Our J 70 training boat is available for training. This sporty keelboat is just under seven metres long and, thanks to its low overall weight, has exceptionally good gliding characteristics and a high speed potential even in light winds. It is nevertheless stable and easy to handle. With its large cockpit and manoeuvrable sail wardrobe with three sails, the J 70 is perfect for training on Lake Zurich.

Practical examination

You usually take the official examination for the Swiss D licence on your training vessel. It is conducted by a cantonal examination expert and lasts approximately one hour. As preparation, you will complete a one-hour familiarisation sail before the exam so that you can get used to the weather conditions.

Theoretical exam

You can prepare for the theoretical exam through self-study. You can use the documents recommended by the shipping authorities or learning software from various providers. We will be happy to help you prepare for the theory exam.

Pay by card

On our ships you can pay by card on the spot (with all major credit and debit cards).
